About our Medium Term Accommodation services

At Sanity Care, we offer MTA when situations arise that delay moving into your more permanent home.  This could be because you are:

Waiting for home modifications to be done

Being discharged from hospital or leaving aged care

Waiting for assistive technology to arrive

Waiting for your confirmed Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) to be available

Waiting for a new build SDA to be ready

Experiencing a breakdown of supports and can’t live in your current home.

Which categories in my Medium Term Accommodation plan can I use?

MTA is funded under Core Supports in your NDIS plan. To fund this, the NDIS needs evidence that you have somewhere to move into at the end of the MTA funding.

MTA is a one off support which covers disability accommodation costs, but you need to pay for food and everyday living costs from your own income, rather than your NDIS plan.

Step 01

Access Request

Individuals with disabilities or their caregivers initiate the process by submitting an access request to the National Disability Insurance Agency.

Step 02

Eligibility Assessment

The NDIA assesses the eligibility of the individual based on criteria like age, residency, and the presence of a permanent disability that significantly impacts daily life.

Step 03

Planning Meeting

If eligible, the individual participates in a planning meeting with an NDIA representative to discuss their goals, needs, and preferences. Together, they develop an individualized NDIS plan.

Step 04

Funding Allocation

Based on the plan, the NDIA allocates funding to cover the cost of necessary supports and services.

Step 05

Service Providers

Individuals can choose their service providers who deliver the support and services outlined in the NDIS plan, working toward the individual’s goals.

Step 06

Plan Review

NDIS plans are reviewed annually to ensure they continue to meet the individual’s evolving needs and goals. Adjustments can be made as necessary.

MTA support can be provided for up to 90 days. The duration may vary depending on individual circumstances and the specific transitional needs.

Yes, MTA can be used for individuals of all ages who meet the eligibility criteria and require temporary accommodation during a transition.

Yes, MTA can be used when you are waiting for home modifications to be completed, ensuring you have a safe place to stay during that period.

To access MTA funding, you should contact your NDIS planner or support coordinator. They can help assess your eligibility and assist in submitting a funding request.
