Your sense of security can be broken, making you feel helpless in a world of danger. Trauma therapy, or shock therapy, can help you get out of the void and heal, allowing you to live fully and safely without the burden of something that is not your fault.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
PTSD is a specific set of reactions that can occur in people who are exposed to a traumatic event that threatens their life or safety, or the lives of their loved ones. This can be a car accident or any other serious incident, physical or sexual assault, war, torture or even disasters such as forest fires or floods. As a result, a person feels intense fear or helplessness.
Post-traumatic stress disorder and sexual assault
Australia has one of the highest reported cases of sexual assault in the world, with many victims remaining silent due to feelings of shame, guilt and fear. Exposure to sexual abuse at a young age can result in a loss of youth and innocence. This grief continues into adulthood due to a broken childhood. Traumatised individuals carry the memory of these traumatizing events in their brain and in their body. These memories are often expressed through PTSD in the form of nightmares, certain reactions and schizophrenia.
If you are experiencing PTSD, therapy can help you understand your reactions, to process the trauma and and to treat it. Allowing you to restore a sense of balance and stability, and to participate in your life. Through counselling, we can help you identify the traumatic experiences you have suffered and understand their impact on your life. We will explore the negative emotions associated with them, while helping you develop more adaptive behaviours, new skills and coping strategies.
